Georgia Tech cross country's Katie Townsend was named the ACC Female Cross Country Performer of the Week, and Jeremy Greenwald was named the ACC Male Co-Performer of the Week along with Pittsburgh's Cullen Davis, the league announced Tuesday.

The Georgia Institute of Technology is one of eight ACC schools ranked in the Top 50 by U.S. News & World Report.

Senior Jeremy Greenwald finished first overall at the UGA Invite as the Georgia Tech men's and women's cross country teams opened the 2014 season Saturday at the UGA Equestrian Complex in Bishop, Ga.

The Georgia Tech cross country team will travel to Bishop, Ga. to open the 2014 season at the UGA Invite on Saturday at the UGA Equestrian Complex. The men's 8K competition begins at 8 a.m. and the women 5K race starts at 8:45 a.m.

Head coach Alan Drosky announced the 2014 Georgia Tech cross country schedule on Wednesday that features seven meets. The Yellow Jackets kick off the season at the UGA Invitational on Sept. 6.

Fourteen of Georgia Tech's 17 varsity sports improved or equaled their Academic Progress Report (APR) scores from the previous year, including three Yellow Jacket teams that posted perfect scores, in data released Wednesday by the NCAA.
